Barrel Balm is the product that started Driftwood. I made it because nothing else worked. Every “natural” sunscreen eventually washed off and left me fried. And most of them were loaded with seed oils that oxidize in the sun anyway. So I built my own.
25% non-nano zinc oxide blocks UV without absorbing into your bloodstream. Regeneratively raised, grass-fed, grass-finished tallow and mango butter protect your skin and keep it hydrated. Jojoba oil gives it glide so it applies clean without dragging or leaving white streaks. Most sunscreens stop at blocking UV. Vitamin E works behind that. Three hours in the ocean means UV damage keeps building even after zinc does its job. Vitamin E neutralizes free radicals before they damage skin tissue. Lanolin and beeswax form a water-resistant matrix. Lanolin is what channel swimmers coat themselves in before crossing the English Channel. It doesn’t wash off. Combined with beeswax, it’s why Barrel Balm stays on through a full session instead of sliding off the first time you duck dive.

Being in the construction industry and also a surfer, my skin is constantly under the sun. Barrel balm always keeps me protected. It goes on so smooth, last for hours in the water, but it doesn’t look like in wearing make up like other brands. Would recommend to anyone and everyone.

I am a bald human, sunscreen is important. Been surfing about 30 years and tried just about everything in that time. I really like this barrel balm, goes on really easy, coverage is good, and it’s not greasy feeling at all. It also seems to last 2-3 hours easily and I haven’t gotten burnt wearing it in that time. The owner Mike tests/ uses this stuff himself, also a big surfer. I like knowing he wouldn’t put it on his skin if it wasn’t quality, hence the reason for making this stuff. Definitely recommend!!
